PROCESS OF A SUCCESSFUL RESTORATION
1 Soda blast/ Bead blast or stripe back to bare metal by sanding - your vehicle. Blasting back to the base, allows us to see what quality of body we are working with, blasting removes all surface rust and filler. We can than assess whether we need to fabricate new sections due to rust or damaged panel work. 2 Acid wash, Wax and Grease to make sure all corrosion and hand marks have been removed. 3 Epoxy Etch Primer – applying 2 coats to protect bare steel whilst under repair. 4 Heat Shrink & File Finish where possible and lead wiping if requested a almost lost art – this technique is to ensure the surface of your vehicle has a smooth finish in all directions. Panel gaps will be all aligned. 5 High Fill Primer – applying 4 coats, once all surface areas are smooth and straight in preparation for top coat. All surfaces must be smooth in all directions to ensure colour is totally even and highlights the colour you have chosen to its full effect. 7 Basecoat and Clear Coat – depending on what kind of colour you choose depends on how many coats are applied. We will inform you of how many coats should be applied on your vehicle. 8 Flow coat clear (OPTIONAL) – On average we apply 2 coats, this gives the colour depth and a rich finish. |
